Hammam Experience

Once you enter the Hammam, you will notice the building holds history. There will be a separate locker room to change your clothes. The male attendant is called tellak whereas the female attendant is called natir. Complete nudity is not appreciated in Turkish baths as it is a public bathhouse. To cover yourself you will be given Peshtemal which is a traditional Hammam towel.

After changing up and wearing the slippers i.e. called Takunya, you will be directed to the big bath area which will be hot and humid. To cleanse your body and relax your soul, the toxins and impurities will be sweat out.

In the bath area, tellak/natir will enter who will scrub away your dirt and wash you with water and soap. While washing your body, they will perform massage for 20-30 minutes that would ease your tensed body. Remember that they are professionals who have experience of more than 10-20 years.

Next, after the hot and steamy massage; you will be directed to the next washing area where they will bath you in cold water. Admire the interior as you experience the true bliss of bathing.

Next, after equipping your bathrobe and drying yourself out, you will be directed to yet another location to relax and lay down. The ambiance is soothing and relaxing whereas you are offered beverages as per your choice.
